We have members who have faithfully supported the group since its inception in 1985, while others have discovered us, and White River, through annual activities that include on-water and bank cleanups held throughout the spring, summer and fall. Some began their financial support during the time when the waterway’s future was unknown, such as the massive chemical discharge and fish kill that was occurring at year’s end in 1999. Others are contributing annually because they live on or near the river, use it for recreation on a regular basis, or want to show appreciation for its continuing restoration and concerns for its challenges.
What’s your reason? Your donation will allow Friends to work to protect, preserve and enhance White River in 2017, and for years to come!
As we think about all that’s been accomplished this year, our on-water efforts with volunteers stand out as the way most people have come to show their love for White River. One of the partners each spring in the annual downtown White River Cleanup, Citizens Energy Group, is again giving back to the river. Their participation with employees in what’s called the Super Service Challenge will allow Friends to be part of a giveaway that could bring in from $500 to $1,000,000.
We need you to be a part of this by watching as CEG participants share their thoughts on giving back to the community by being involved with White River! Please share with your friends of Friends today!
Thanks to the Friends, “. . . the banks along a stretch of riparian corridor in Warfleigh and Broad Ripple will retain vegetation originally slated for removal.” Author Thomas P. Healy went on describe many of the steps of the negotiation process.
